How do I find the right solution for me?

FINDING THE RIGHT SOLUTION CAN BE DIFFICULT

Prescribing the right solutions for clients or even selecting it for yourself can be a massive task that requires a lot of thought and understanding of specific needs. We here at Mobility Engineering understand that every single client is different and we endevour to ensure that you're equipped with all the necessary information to help you recommend your client or yourself with the best solution possible.

There are many things that need to be taken into account when looking into different mobility solutions, including:

  • Physical dimensions.

  • Personal needs / desires.

  • Medical Needs.

  • Living Situation.

  • Lifestyle.

  • Location.

  • Intended Use.

Understanding your own needs or the needs and wnats of your client is the first step in being able to suggest the most beneficial solution for them. The physical dimensions and living situation of an individual can greatly impact what solutions will and will not work for them, for example they might be to physically large to be suitable for a regualr harnessing system, or if they live alone maybe they require a product that is more easily operated by a single person.

Other things to consider include what type of vehicle you or your client drives, or has access to? Where do is the vehicle usually parked, does it have enough room to manovour around? Does your client require a great deal of assistance with transportation or do they only require a minimal amount of help when stowing their mobility device or getting seated? The type of mobiltiy device that is used can also drastically change which stowing solutions will and won't work for for an individual, heavy duty lifters may be required that are capable of safely securing much larger scooters and wheelchairs.

We try and take all things into account and give our best recomendations on the products that will benefit each client the most. We also take it upon ourselves to ensure that all allied health professionals and members of the public are educated on the latest safety standards and products available; this way Occupational Therapists are able to more accurately select mobility solutions and their clients are capable of being more vocal about what their needs are.

When it comes to finding the best solution, Mobility Engineering strives to look at every aspect of each individual customer, and tailor our work to give them the best possible outcome for their lives. We encourgage OT's to consult with us if they are unsure of product limitations and to have their clients trial our products before they commit to having them installed.
